Creative writing- building tension

Creative writing lesson that focuses on how writers build tension. Students look at a short extract and identify specify techniques writers use to build tension. They then use this for inspiration in their own writing (writing in response to a clip from the shining). Criteria is taken from Edexcel English Language (new spec). However, the lesson can easily be adapted for other exam boards and even KS3 (the clip could be unsuitable for young learners).
