Hand these out at the beginning of the week, children can circle how they’re feeling and hand their sheet back to their adult. This allows adults to quickly check each child, identifying anyone who is feeling down and provide opportunities for children to speak to their trusted adult about how they’re feeling. Children do not have to explain their chosen feeling, but adults can still offer a soft start to the day or distractions such as classroom jobs.

These can be laminated for continuous use or printed fresh each week to keep a permanent record of any children on safeguarding concerns.
