I designed this lesson for a group of students who struggled to give opinions in German, whilst using sentence starters such as Meiner Meaning each, Meines Erachtens, Ich denke, dass......

4 powerpoint slides contained.

Slide 1 & 2 should be laminated and given to students and put onto a keyring to support leaners. (This helps weaker students and it is a good strategy to help PP students, who may not have access to self-help guides). Slide 1 details 5 complex sentence starters and gives examples of how they work.
Slide 2 contains 'wow words' to finish opinions - positive and negative phrases. (Relating to the topic of marriage)
Slide 3 - Contains rules for an exciting game of 'Sentence Auctions.' Each student starts off with 140 Euros.
Sentences displayed worth different amounts. Sentences displayed are both correct and incorrect.
If you bid for a correct sentence, you win that amount.
If you don’t bet, and the sentence is incorrect, nothing happens.
If you bet, and the sentence is incorrect, you deduct that amount.
If you don’t bet and the sentence is correct, you deduct that amount.
Slide 4 - Students compete against each other, responding to a mixture of correct and incorrect sentences on mini-whiteboards, focusing on word order.
