A2 Students should arrive at the lesson having researched this topic. The teacher then facilitates a discussion circle, inputting as little as possible but encouraging discussion by introducing new flash cards as a stimulus. Teachers may wish to get students to evaluate each other. This then leads into an evidence hexagon activity. Students are given an envelope with evidence on this topic and then have to group these appropriately for future paragraphs. This will be the basis of a plan. Blank hexagons can be used to write topic sentences or to show links between groups (see slide 15). Students can then use the colour plan and after the first draft the editing sheet to hone their style. If you use this please review, particularly the resources to support essay writing.
