Children initially asked to rank animals in terms of which they think would the best pet to least favourite choice giving reasons. They are then introduced to for and against. Discussion really important to develop their thinking. It’s their thinking that matters not relying on factual knowledge. Differentiated so higher abilities could give 2 reasons, stretching that to two very different reasons whereas lower abilities just give the one.
