An activity based on the game Taboo to help students to learn the vocabulary of Easter.
Aim of the lesson - To teach the vocabulary of Easter in a fun way.
This game is a useful lesson for students at any levels who are studying ESL or EFL, especially adults. The game is based on the popular game “Taboo”.
Things you will need
• A set of the cards for each team
• A one minute timer
• A buzzer
Instructions
1. To make the Taboo cards – photocopy the cards below on to card; laminate the cards to make them more long lasting. Cut the cards carefully between the lines.
To Play
2. Divide the players into two teams. Place the buzzer and cards in the center of the table.
3. Choose one person from a team to start. He or she should sit opposite his/her team and draw a card from the pack and start the timer. The card should be hidden from the player’s team but visible to at least one of his/ her opponents. This opponent should hold the buzzer.
4. The player should then give clues to the players on their team. The clues can be single words or sentences. The clue giver cannot use any word from the Taboo list printed on the card, or any parts of those words or forms of those words.
5. The team scores one point for the clue giver's team for each word they guess correctly. There is no penalty for wrong answers.
