Presentation used in a English or literacy lesson. Students are presented with a word that is part of everyday English but is, in fact, a “borrowed” word from another language or culture. The students are asked to select the source culture by using reasoning and research tools (dictionary, ICT etc.). Hyperlinks are embedded throughout the presentation and the whole presentation contains 50 challenges and 103 slides in total. The challenges are arranged in 10 times 5 sections, one section will typically take no more than 10 minutes making it a suitable starter or plenary activity. Hyperlinks allows teacher to control activity ie Q & A, or QQQQQ then AAAAA etc.
