Objective: To identify the features of tabloid newspapers.

This file is aimed at secondary school students and focuses on tabloid articles, something which can potentially arise in English Language exams. The given task was proposed by a teacher to his students, and here we exhibit a pupil’s response!

The features being analysed:

-Pictures

-Bold Heading

-Captions

-Gimmicks

-Colour

-Puns

Here is a basic breakdown of the different sections of Edexcel IGCSE English Language B: These sections comprise of:

“A” being the place likely involving two unseen texts, which have to be to annotated, analysed and compared with each other. Here you will need to be able to meet Assessment objective AO1, AO2 & AO3.

“B” is the time where pupils would be expected to write a piece of transactional writing (examples being: writing to inform/explain/review/argue/persuade/advise). Here you will need to be able to meet Assessment objective AO1, AO4 & AO5.

“C” would be the part of the exam where a pupil would be given the opportunity to choose one out of three options of a style/genre of writing, and an imaginative piece of work would probably be included in this section . Examiners would look out for AO4 & AO5 in this portion of the paper.
