This can be used to introduce differentiation where pupils come up with the rule themselves through spotting the pattern. I have used this with junior years as well as an extension puzzle.

Please do not use this resource to introduce your students to Calculus. Spend a lesson looking at tangents, chords and zooming in on curves like y=x^2, y=2^x talking about local linearity and the history of Newton and Leibnitz.
