This lesson follows on from the previous introduction to forces lesson.

The ideas of balanced and unbalanced forces are discussed as well as an introduction to resultant forces using simple animations. Some follow up diagrams should be used to check understanding and students can be asked to produce their own "resultant force diagram" wherein they draw a free body force diagram for a situation and include the sizes of the forces involved which can then be swapped with another student for them to calculate the resultant force.

There is a section of the lesson devoted to students measuring some forces. A variety of force/Newton meters should be provided along with some items to measure.

There is a summary quiz which can be used as a plenary.

The lesson should be followed up with an approved exploring science worksheet on the topic.
