This lesson explores the difference between mass and weight.

There is time devoted to discussion regarding the difference between mass and weight and the definition of gravity is also discussed.

A good analogy to use for the difference between mass and weight is as follows:

If you had a person, made out of 1000 lego bricks on Earth, it would weigh around 15N.

That same lego person on the moon would STILL be made of 1000 bricks (mass) but it would now weigh around 2.5 N (weight)

This lesson should be followed up with an relevant exploring science worksheet on the topic.

I usually have students find out their weight in Newton's (using Newton scales) and then calculate their weight on different planets, the sheet for this is already available on TES so I won't upload another.
