A code breaker puzzle for forming and solving equations from diagrams. Each of thirteen tiles shows a diagram with expressions on it: angles in a triangle, on a straight line, round a point and in a quadrilateral, equal sides of a square, perimeters, and two bar models about ages and money. Students form an equation, solve it, answer the question on the tile, look the answer up in the Code Box and write down the letter it unlocks, then unscramble the thirteen letters to find a British dish.

The deliberate trap: some tiles ask for x, but others ask for the largest angle, the longer side, the perimeter or an amount of money, so students have to finish the last step rather than stop at x. Lengths are in centimetres and angles in degrees, and the diagrams are not to scale.

Answers are included as a separate file. One per A4.

Suitable for GCSE Foundation (AQA A21) and for Key Stage 3 classes working on forming and solving equations.
