This is an almost self-contained lesson for the GCSE history Elizabeth I unit. Unlike the other lessons in this sequence a textbook is required for students to research the problems of marriage, succession, war and religion. This powerpoint should last for two lessons - one for preparation for the debate and the second lesson devoted to the debate and checking if objectives have been met. The resource is suitable for all exam board specifications and includes differentiated objectives, a starter, plenary and core activity(s). Differentiation in built into the activities, but is flexible enough that you can adapt to suit the specific needs of your class. No accompanying textbook is required; everything you need is in the PowerPoint and/or accompanying worksheets. If you are new to teaching or are just looking to save time this PowerPoint is good to go – just make sure you read it through quickly first and get any printing done if necessary. If you are a more experienced professional you will be able to revise and adapt the resource to suit your personal style – nobody will ever know it wasn’t yours to begin with! The PowerPoint can be moulded to suit your specific unit of work and personalised to the needs of your class and your own personal style as a teacher.
