Double-sided worksheet containing a simplified version of the first chapter of Candide - suitable for reading comprehension/literary text question practice with GCSE.
Vocab and tasks included on the sheet, so that students have a variety of ways in which to interpret the text. The PPT serves just to give a little context as to the life of Voltaire, and some comprehension tips to leave on screen while students work.
(While much of the first part of the chapter has been simplified and abridged, the latter end of the chapter contains more examples of the passé simple as an additional challenge.)
