GCSE Music - Pop Music Listening Task

This is an activity that I use to help pupil identify features within pop music songs.

As you can see in the cover image (example of the answer sheet), the pupils need to listen to the tracks and identify the first entry of the piano, guitar and vocals and when the bass guitar changes.

The pupils plot the features onto the given grid which represent the bars in the music. This also makes it much more accessible for those pupils who don’t read music.

There are 4 tasks in this resource. The resource includes the following excerpts;

  1. “Under Pressure” by Queen
  2. “Rolling In The Deep” by Adele
  3. “I’m a Believer” by The Monkees
  4. “Norwegian Wood” by The Beatles

Any questions about the resource, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Thank you.
