Pupils have to develop the Nth term of the given sequence then check whether or not a certain value falls within it. Pupils are encouraged to set up and solve an equation to do this. More able can be extended to tell you either the closest integer that would fit or the number term within the sequence that the value given is depending on whether or not is does actually fit the sequence! There is a nice worked example to get them started and answers are included.
