This KS2 Black History Month comprehension activity includes a reading passage ‘What is Black History Month?’ and differentiated VIPERS-style questions with answers. The resource is provided as a PDF and the PowerPoint link is also included. It contains three levels of questions (lower, middle and higher ability), making it suitable for mixed-ability classrooms. Pupils explore the history, significance and celebration of Black History Month, developing key reading skills in Vocabulary, Inference, Prediction, Explanation, Retrieval and Summarising (VIPERS).

Teachers can use this resource for whole-class reading and discussion, guided group work, or independent task. It supports the English curriculum, encourages critical thinking, and helps pupils build cultural awareness. Perfect for lessons, assemblies, homework or Black History Month projects, this comprehension pack saves planning time and promotes meaningful discussion.
