This resource is ideal for students that are beginning to do artist research or as a starting point for further research into the work of American artist Jim Dine.

The resource includes:

  • An introduction to Jim Dine PowerPoint
  • Research questions worksheet
  • Drawing activity worksheet

Jim Dine is a living artist that specialises in drawing everyday objects and specifically tools. Most of his work is in black and white and the drawing activity is good for students to practice their skills in creating texture and using shade and tone.

I have successfully used this resource with years 8, 9 and 10 and found it useful when exploring themes relating to ‘around the home’ and ‘work’. It could also work well as a cover lesson activity.
