I created this short unit of work (2 weeks) for a low ability Year 9 English class. It is based around using investigation skills and thinking outside of the box. There are PowerPoint presentations and worksheets to go with each lesson. The lessons include: crime scene investigation, writing police incident reports, newspaper reports, inference skills and comprehension. There is a research based speaking and listening task looking at the case of Oscar Pistorius. Students will complete this unit by writing their own 'murder mystery' inspired story.

Some good links/clips for use with classes but these are not fully developed lessons and have very limited tasks associated with them. Not suitable for KS3 English.
