A lesson on writing to describe teaching students how to vary the word order of their sentences to avoid using ‘the’, ‘it’, etc, to make their sentences more interesting.

Lesson activities include:

  • Starter: Think pair share on why example sentences are not interesting
  • 1: Discussion/examples of how to change word order (verb/preposition/adjective)
  • 2: Writing task, getting students to change word order in example sentences
  • 3: Students to edit longer passage using skills learned in the lesson

Suitable for a lesson in a gothic / halloween / creative writing SOW. Suitable for both KS3 and GCSE creative writing lessons.
