This lesson is based on the Edexcel curriculum for KS4 Anglo-Saxons Unit
The starter is a recap quiz i got my students to complete in groups to generate competition
They then engaged in a group task, studying the CVs of each of the claimants to the throne, completing a grid sheet for each candidate
I have modelled the correct answers for students so they can fill in any gaps in their knowledge and understanding before they move onto an exam question - Explain why there was a succession crisis in 1066 (12 mark question)
There is guidance for what is required for each paragraph and support for HAPs with what a level 4 answer requires.
To finish, I did an ABC discussion on who should be the next king based on all the information they have gathered throughout the lesson and for students to justify their choice.
