Learners respond to photographs through associated short, simple reading and writing tasks. Activities are also conducive to discussions. Learners are encouraged to communicate opinions and life experiences. I have found each of the ten takes a full 45-60 minute lesson to complete, if fully explored and developed. These have been used with a wide range of ages.
