I used this with a year 8 class to introduce experimental and theoretical probability. It is loosely based on other similar resources I found online but I have made my own version to make it more straightforward for students. We did this at the end of the year, but it can be done at any time. If you use it please review and rate. Thanks!

I like this activity as it involves pupils using the probabilities they are calculating to try and work out how many of each colour sweet are in the bag. For example, if after 20 goes they have pulled out 5 orange, then probably a quarter are orange. They they check what is in the bag to see how accurate it is (which should improve with the number of trials.) Hopefully they can resist the temptation to eat them!
