Trying to engage children in solving worded problems at the moment. My current class enjoy play script reading and acting, so I’ve developed 3 play scripts that follow on from each other.
1st = 3 performers
2nd = 3 performers
3rd = 2 performers
The aim is that they work in small groups (of 2 or 3) to read through, complete the missing numbers in the script using skills from classwork on four operations, area, time, days of the week, money.
Then they can perform them and have fun with it all.
Have tried to include aspects of the Y3/4 English grammar curriculum so you can point those out in context too and have added some comprehension questions to support language understanding and some maths extension questions to the end of each answer sheet.
