Natural Selection, Mutation and Adaptation Multiple Activity Lesson

Part 1:

Students illustrate how random mutation and natural selection may cause populations to evolve over time. This activity challenge students to think creatively to arrive at diverse answers. there are 2 options to the worksheet:

a) Students use a population of rabbits to show how they evolve over time
b) Students use their own organism( real or fiction) to show how they evolve.

Part 2:

Students learn about adaptations and the survival benefits to various oganisms.

Part 3:

Students role play as birds with 4 different beak types and compete to “eat” to visually demonstrate natural selection. This activity is fun and exciting while it vividly show the process of natural selection and how it may lead to some genes disappearing from the gene pool of a population. Directions and tips included in the teacher guide.
