Factors and Multiples
Key Stage: 3 ★

Using the two digits given to you, can you arrange these and a third digit of your choice to make a number that is divisible by 2, 3, 4 or 6?

This problem offers a twist on the usual way of thinking about divisibility tests - rather than checking to see if a number is divisible by 2, 3, 4 or 6, students are asked to construct numbers that meet the necessary criteria.

This resource has comprehensive teachers' notes and resources, linked from the problem page. This includes possible approaches and key questions, as well as possible support and extensions.

An interesting starter activity that gets pupils thinking about the biggest three digit multiple of a number they can make using two specific numbers given by the computer. When I loaded this, there was a slight error in that you couldn't see the numbers the computer wanted you to use but you can figure this out by typing in a number and checking if you're correct.
