These comprehensions are to be used alongside the text Oliver’s Vegetables by Vivian French. Each ‘part’ is roughly 4 pages of the book (there are no page numbers) and there are 3 worksheets per ‘part’. Each comprehension has an answer sheet to assist with marking. These resources have been designed to be used in Key Stage One. The questions are divided into three types: retrieval, inference and vocabulary which directly link to the Key Stage One reading domains. These can be used in English or shared/guided reading sessions to enable pupils to demonstrate their understanding of the text. They can be used as formative assessment tools, independent tasks, paired/group tasks or whole class discussion. This is not designed to be used as a test, therefore there are no marking thresholds. Some questions are more challenging than others; this will deepen the thinking of your higher attainers and provide discussion opportunities for all pupils.
