Can be used as part of an assembly about manners.
This resource supports early Oracy development by helping children practice key classroom phrases and polite requests through structured recall and repetition.
It begins with the familiar “Welcome” poem to establish routine and rhythm, followed by interactive speaking activities that encourage children to use everyday expressions confidently.
Included phrases:
“Can I go to the toilet, please?”
“I haven’t got … ”
“Can I have/borrow/use a … ?”
Children practice these phrases through poem with either partner talk or whole-class games, reinforcing respectful communication and active listening.
