This lesson reinforces students’ understanding of the Fire Triangle as they recap its three elements before formulating a hypothesis about oxygen and combustion to guide a structured scientific enquiry. Pupils then conduct a controlled experiment to measure burning time using containers of different volumes, gathering data to explore how oxygen availability affects flame duration. Finally, they analyse how container size influences combustion, drawing conclusions about the relationship between oxygen supply and burning efficiency while strengthening practical skills, prediction, observation and scientific reasoning.
