This lesson is aimed at looking at how the monarchy’s power changed under King John. Students look at the reputation of King John and whether his legacy is justified they then look at the Baron’s reaction and the Magna carter and how this challenged the power of the crown.

There is a GCSE styled question with sentence starters for the less able. There are challenge tasks to stretch the top end. There is also a literacy focus as well, where students need to correct literacy mistakes.
