A 1 hour lesson in which pupils learn about the term ‘Institutional Racism’ and how the murder of Stephen Lawrence highlighted major issues in the British justice system, ultimately leading to reform.

Suitable for Years 10-11.

Lesson Objectives:
Learn about the murder of Stephen Lawrence
Develop an understanding about what Institutional Racism is
Learn about how we can be mindful of racism and actively challenge it

This lesson was delivered during Black History Month but is suitable for a using all year round. It would also tie in well to History or Government and Politics.

An essential case for pupils to explore and learn about Black British History.
