In the red brain state, characterized by heightened emotions like frustration, anger, or anxiety, students are prompted to describe not only what they’re feeling but also the physical sensations accompanying these emotions. After considering how they feel in a red brain state, the stairs provide them with an opportunity to reflect and discuss effective regulation strategies that can help them transition into a green brain state.
