Practise simple interest with a strip of years, each earning the same amount: find the interest for one year, multiply by the number of years, then add it to the start when the question asks what the money is worth. 16 questions on one A4 page, full answers included.

Worksheet (questions 1 to 8): the first four find the total interest with the year strip, the percentage calculation and the multiplication laid out. Questions 5 to 8 find the value at the end, and the support fades until students set out the working themselves.

Further practice (questions 9 to 16): graded by difficulty. Decimal interest rates, completing a year by year table, interest for 6 months, comparing two banks when one charges a fee, working backwards to find the number of years or the rate, monthly loan repayments, and explaining why doubling the time does not double the value.

Answers to all 16 questions are included as a separate file.

Suitable for GCSE Foundation (AQA R9) and for Key Stage 3 classes working on percentages and simple interest.
