A resource best used to interleave learning - either in revision or a week or two after studying simultaneous equations. This is when problem solving questions work most effectively.
Great for KS4 and a strong KS3 classes.

Excuse me, but this is just too much! Seriously, the lego problem?? It's pretty dull, i.e. there are no moves to thinks about. But there are these huge numbers, that in the end do not give a whole number of pence. Would be great to see what the author thinks the answer should be along with some working out! ;)

It is a long solve. The reason the answer isn't a whole number (sorry spoilers!) is because they are taken from actual numbers and actual sets. Production lines work on mass bulk. You could always represent the values as: 101080/12461 for the 2x4 and 71010/12461 for the 2x1s. It's all about adding layers of challenge to unpick the maths behind it. Anyhow, 8.1117p and 5.69856p are the answers :)
