Build a solar oven that can get to over 80’C using everyday materials.

This is a fun and easy activity that can be done by anyone that can use a pair of scissors.

The end result is incredibly effective and can easily be extended to learn about scientific measurements and controls.

The worksheet is self-contained on one sheet of paper minimising the amount of printing required. Instructions are included on the worksheet.

Materials needed:

  • Worksheet
  • Scissors
  • Cling Wrap
  • Thermometer (optional)
  • Colour pencils to decorate

Follow up questions:

  • How could you make your oven even hotter?
  • How could you keep your oven hot even after the sun goes down?
