Practice word classes by creating silly sentences! This is a stand-alone lesson which can be used at any point in the year. It can be used to show instant progress in a test-teach-test format.

Pupils review the differences between word classes and are challenged to make their own silly sentences. They are guided through making sentences more complex in a structured way, allowing discussion about each word class. Use of white boards is recommended.

Pupils can show their progress verbally, by explaining word classes, or record sentences in books and annotate to show learning.

Ideal SPAG/EGPS lesson between longer units for KS2.
