A visual aid to remember the order of speech marks.
On the speech burger goes
1. The bottom bun - The opening speech marks (66)
2. The burger - The speech
3. The salad and toppings - The punctuation e.g. comma, exclamation mark etc.
4. The top bun - The closing speech marks (99)
I tell the children to imagine putting a burger together, so that they remember to start from the bottom and not from the top. Good resource to print out in colour, fill in and display on the wall or in their Literacy books for reference.
