This is a PPT (11 slides) with great starters that include words drawn from KS2 SATs terminology lists with some added words for good measure. Pupils write down the definition of one key word per lesson and then find examples in their reading books and/or extract booklets. Every 5 lessons there is a short quiz to complete as the starter and pupils can peer or self assess answers in green pen.
