Teachers at two schools in Blackburn demonstrate three Great Lesson Ideas for primary art, using scrap and recycled materials.

At Feniscowles Primary School, Year 3 teacher Kelvin Wilkins uses a safari theme. Pupils develop their planning skills in groups creating their own African animals.

At St Mary’s and St Joseph’s Primary School, art co-ordinator Simone Addy uses a puppet to motivate her Year 1 class to build a house out of scrap materials.

In Laura Ellis’s Year 4 class, pupils develop investigation skills as they create their own Indian-inspired hats.

I really like the teachers TV videos to see how other teachers organise themselves and actually see the children construcitng the art projects. The lesson plans are great too and really help understand the skills involved
