Lesson leading students to explore ideas of class and gender in the novel. The lesson was used when around Chapter 19/20 of the novel. Students discuss ideas of gender stereotypes for Maycomb at the time and how certain characters fit with them. They then explore a couple of key quotes (included in the PowerPoint) and how they relate to the context of the novel. They can then complete PEE responses and peer assess (some criteria included in PP) with a final discussion of contextual themes.
