185 pages with no blank or near-empty pages. I viewed a sample of pages (cover, front matter, materials, maths and comfort sections) and they look right. I haven’t looked at every page, so skim it before printing.
Colour coding: Strand A (Materials) is orange, B (Maths) is blue and C (Human comfort) is green. Each topic opens with a coloured banner, and every page footer carries the strand name and colour. Colours always come with a label or icon, so it works for colour-blind students.
Scaffolding: Every calculation uses the same five coloured steps (given, find, formula, working, answer). Each topic has three levels of practice: a support level with word banks, a core level with sentence starters, and a stretch level. There is also a “stuck?” help ladder, a calculator check (degrees or radians) and a calm exam routine page.
SEN-friendly and UDL:
Text is 12 pt Arial, left-aligned, in short chunks.
Diagrams repeat the words visually and have text descriptions.
Students choose how to respond (write, sketch, voice note, mind map).
There are confidence checks, goal-setting and reflection pages.
Coverage:
Strand A: all 16 properties, all 15 material families, sustainability and degradation.
Strand B: algebra, trigonometry, mensuration, statistics, calculus and beam analysis.
Strand C: heat, condensation, acoustics and lighting.
Practice and revision: There are 34 tiered tasks, 28 exam-style questions with mark schemes, a 40-question quiz, glossaries and one-page organisers for each strand. All answers are at the back, ready to remove if you’d rather mark yourself.
