A new revisionist approach to Viking raids, taking into account differing views of historians who see the Vikings as not all bad. The role of women and families in Viking raids and settlements. The 'Great Army' , some controversy on its role, size and impact.
Finally students are asked to write a 350-450 word response discussing the views expressed in the information provided. They are required to make a judgment based on what they already know and have just read. ( You may like to include a day of further research at this point for students) There is a marking criteria attached based on a short response - 6 marks.
