Introduction to Waves Activity
This resource is perfect for the “Engage” portion of a 5E lesson. It includes several different activities to introduce students to the types and properties of waves. After brainstorming a list of waves, students will group them into categories. They will gain additional information by watching short videos and use this information to develop a definition for “wave”. The brainstorming activity activates prior knowledge while the categorize and analysis activities encourage students to think critically about the information they are learning. The summarize activity brings closure to the lesson. Both color and print-friendly pages are included. Supports NGSS Standards 4-PS4-1 and MS-PS4-2.
