What is Smoking? A Presentation & Mini-Unit

This “What is Smoking” presentation contains a variety of topics, hyperlinked media resources and activity handouts related to smoking, cigarettes, addiction and peer pressure. These materials are ideal for providing opportunities for class discussion, inquiry and critical thinking and may be used as starting points for deeper investigations into related topics. The suggested activities, which are included at the end of the presentation as a resource for teachers, have successfully been used with students to compliment, extend and assess learnings garnered from this "mini-unit" on smoking.

Although it is possible to complete this mini-unit and presentation within 2 weeks, I would budget around 3-4 weeks to devote enough time toward completing each activity. If you choose to merely use this resource for presentation purposes, it should be possible to complete the presentation over several days.
