Hexagonal thinking is a creative mode for discussion that allows learners to think about concepts and connections in a different way.
Students make connections between the keywords on the hexagons and then justify the connections they make. This is a great way to support student
collaboration, as students discuss and justify their decisions, learning from each other. As the teacher, these conversations and justifications can be used to assess understanding.
This resource contains 15 hexagons for each of the 5 science units in year 4. 12 of the hexagons contain a keyword and related image for EAL learners and 3 hexagons are blank so that Higher ability learners can include their own words.
