This 90-minute consolidation lesson revisits the core mathematical skills developed across Lessons Y2-07 to Y2-10 and applies them in GCSE Astronomy contexts. Learners review conversions between hours, minutes and seconds; decimal time; degrees, arcminutes and arcseconds; sidereal time and the daily four-minute shift; the Equation of Time; unit consistency; scientific notation; rearranging formulae; speed, distance and light-travel time; the inverse-square law; magnitude and brightness ratios; and distance modulus. The lesson begins with a supported reference review and an individual confidence check so learners can identify one or two priority areas. It then moves into three levels of focused practice, progressing from foundation conversions to multi-step astronomical calculations, followed by an error-hunt activity that develops checking, reasoning and recognition of common misconceptions. A quick-fire plenary assesses recall and helps each learner set a targeted revision goal. Calculators, worked examples, reference tables and tiered tasks make the lesson accessible, while the challenge questions provide stretch for confident learners. By the end of the lesson, learners should be more fluent in selecting an appropriate method, using consistent units, showing clear working and judging whether an answer is physically reasonable.
