English Unit based on the first 6 chapters of the wonderful book ‘Edge of the World’!
This unit is designed to engage and inspire young readers while improving their writing skills. It includes three different writing ideas, each with its own set of success criteria and writing checklists to ensure that students are equipped with the tools they need to succeed.
The unit also includes lots of SPAG activities, which help students to develop their spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills. These activities are designed to be both fun and educational, and they provide plenty of opportunities for students to practice their new skills in a meaningful way.
To make learning even more interactive, I’ve included a set of vocabulary flashcards as a visual aid. These flashcards help students to learn and remember new words, which will be especially useful when it comes time to write their own stories.
All materials are provided in PDF format, making it easy for teachers to print and distribute as needed. The unit is suitable for children in upper KS2 (grades 4-6) and can be used as a standalone resource or as part of a larger English curriculum.

Narrative Writing Lesson for Upper Key Stage 2, based on the classic novel, The Secret Garden. This lesson is designed to help students develop their creative writing skills and deepen their understanding of narrative techniques.
Included in the lesson are PowerPoint slides that guide students through the writing process, using Chapter 23 of The Secret Garden as a basis for analysis and inspiration. The lesson also includes two narrative extracts ready for analysis, allowing students to practice identifying and deconstructing literary techniques such as personification, metaphors, similes, and expanded noun phrases.
