I'm a primary school teacher with many years of experience across KS1 & 2 (the majority of which has been spent in Y6) leading science, maths and the curriculum for more able and gifted children, as well as leading a key stage as part of the SLT. In my spare time, when not wrangling my own little monkeys, I love to read and write, and am currently seeking representation for my debut novel.

When pupils are given time to read in class, as well as enjoying the book they can also be looking to learn from the author and steal some of their good ideas! Book Burglars gives pupils a clear framework for how to achieve this! While reading, they simply make note of examples of what makes the writing great such as varied punctuation, sentence structure, metaphors/similes, conjunctions and much more! Children can earn points for the great aspects of writing they gather which can be transferred to any positive behaviour policy.
