GCSE Business Studies Homework Booklets - Business Activity, Marketing & People Topics

3 Resources
These booklets are mapped against OCR's GCSE Business Studies NEW Specification (J204). They cover Unit 1 / Business 1 of the new specification. Each of the three booklets has 8 homework sheets. That's 24 HOMEWORK SHEETS! If setting one per week (which is MORE than enough) that's enough for AT LEAST three half terms, or HALF a school year, if not more. Each booklet has a space for teacher marking - MINIMAL marking though (see the preview). Look out for the bundle to cover Unit 2 / Business 2 too! Save almost 30%. Enjoy.

Using Excel - Creating a V-Lookup Table (for teachers) Calculate grades on trackers/class lists auto

(1)
Instructions for teachers on how to create and use look up tables within Excel to calculate grades from scores automatically. Equally, you might use these instructions when teaching this skill to students. I hope these instructions are fairly straight forward. I used Excel 2013 for the print screens, though the skill is similar in whatever Excel version is being used. Great for staff training. ALL staff should know how to do this to save time when tracking data. Enjoy!

Start-Up and Running Costs - GCSE Business Studies - Full lesson, lesson plan and 3 handouts!

(3)
This is another in my 'Let's Learn' series. The lesson gets students to think about their initial ideas before introducing start-up and running costs so progress can easily be judged. The lesson PowerPoint is equally good for revision if printed or made available electronically so it's even more of a bargain! There are two main activities (one is an exam style question assessment that can be peer marked with teacher guidance. The lesson plan is included to guide teachers through every step of the lesson. Enjoy!

Stakeholders, Conflict and Resolving Conflict - FULL, differentiated lesson

(1)
This lesson includes an editable lesson plan, PowerPoint for display, group work task, extension tasks, G&T task AND lower ability task. The lesson starts by recapping or introducing stakeholder groups. Students have a challenge to name or identify as many groups as possible. Students are then introduced to conflict with a scenario of a new supermarket opening locally. They must work in groups to focus on one stakeholder group each. This is discussed as a class. Conflict is discussed then an activity concludes the lesson on resolving the potential conflicts identified. Enjoy.

Python Programming Lesson 1a (FREE!). ASCII Art / Print Command - FUN with Python Code

(1)
This is a fun activity idea taken from my Python series of lessons. IT IS NOT A FULL LESSON, it's just a sample of what my paid resources look like and helps me balance my premium and free resources. My premium resources are all FULL lessons with full differentiated outcomes, student handouts and stretch activities for higher abilities. This particular activity a fun task using Python version 3 which introduces ASCII code and gets your students to create their own ASCII Art from characters using Python Print commands. It's not available in my paid resources, so if you've bought the lessons you should also download this activity! Enjoy.

Website Reliability - EXAMPLE PAGE from student booklet

(1)
This is an EXAMPLE PAGE from my paid resource; an eight page student booklet and six lesson outlines on Multimedia Presentations and Web Reliability. On its own though, this activity is a great starter that gets students comparing two websites and making decisions about which is more reliable. A following class discussion/debate about overall choices should lead to some agreed criteria for what a reliable website looks like or contains. I hope you can make use of this resource, enjoy!

Business Proposal - an EASY introduction to Business Studies (display opportunity)

(1)
Print this sheet on A3. This is a quite engaging and relatively accessible start to Business Studies, particularly for Year 9 or low ability groups OR useful for PSHE or Enterprise lessons. They DRAW their idea for a business (there’s a shop front, so most will come up with businesses in retail, though could equally be a service based business like Estate Agents etc.). They then design a logo, flyer and come up with a business name. After this (which is a good introduction), I teach GOODS and SERVICES and SECTORS then get them to complete their sheet fully. I also get them to colour and make it look good for display. I’ve also included a version I made for new students who had just arrived from Poland. Enjoy.
Introduction to Business Ethics (FUN!)

Introduction to Business Ethics (FUN!)

(1)
Everything is included! There’s a PowerPoint which guides teachers through the lesson, including speaker notes with additional commentary. Activities: Discuss differentiated outcomes / objectives Mind map ways a business can be ethical Discussion on ways a business can be ethical Cut and paste group sort activity ethical or unethical? (hand out/worksheet included) Discussion on ethical or unethical practice (answers included on PowerPoint) Design/display work (A3 handout) - students design a new ethical milkshake brand Differentiation: higher abilities also add how much their brand will do ethically compared to competitors. Should be quite a fun lesson for what is often a tedious topic. Some good display work can be produced too if students are allowed time to colour/design their brand ideas. Would also suit PHSE topics on ethical trading/fair trade etc.

**SAMPLE AVAILABLE** If you want to see the quality of this resource, the lesson plan is available within my free resources. Perhaps download/view this before making your purchase. This resource includes a FULL lesson - would fill a 'double' session, or more, if needed. The slides are also GREAT for revision if printed or made available electronically to your learners. TWO student handouts are included as well as a full lesson plan. The slides introduce company ownership (both types of limited company) and include a paired task, independent task, case study questions, differentiated glossary (focus on literacy) and plenary. Plenty to keep learners focused and a really good resource for teaching GCSE Business Studies Company ownership. Lessons on sole traders and partnerships are also available in the same theme and to the same quality standard. A bundle for all three is also available, if you like the look of this lesson! Enjoy!
