This assembly focuses on the prospect of relying in the lottery, lucky charms or Mystic Meg to predict our future and rely on to be a success. The first part of the assembly is a clip of a euro lottery draw. I ask the staff to fill out their numbers before the assembly with slips for the euro draw. The staff will not win the lottery (hopefully!). I then move on to the use of lucky charms and then onto star signs and Mystic Meg by reading out staff star signs. The key message is that we cannot rely on luck or anything else apart from our own hard work.

The assembly is based around a fixed and growth mind set. It uses a series of clips taken from I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here from a couple of years ago when Helen Flannigan was voted to do a number of Bush Tucker Trails. The first two clips show here saying that 'she isn't feeling this today' and then quits before really having a go. The next clip shows here saying that she is going 'to give it her very best' and she completes the trial gaining all of the stars. The message is about approaching a task with a positive mindset. I then list the challenges that each Key Stage will face during the academic year and the importance of being positive and giving everything 100% effort.

This assembly is based around the rumour mill that exists in schools. The first part of the assembly is an imitation of a game on celebrity juice. It requires 3 members of staff to be stood in line with ear phones in and their music on full volume. Behind the staff are three extracts from celeb gossip mags. The idea is for you to read out one piece of gossip and then for the staff to pass this down the line. The message will get lost through the loud music and lip reading. This is repeated 3 times. I then show a picture of a puppeteer and explain how people can twist information to create a situation for their own benefit and that unless a person has heard or seen something for them self to not always believe it.
